Hot Air Balloon Rodeo

The 36th annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo takes place July 8th and 9th at Bald Eagle Lake (35565 South Highway 40) outside of Steamboat.  Events start at 6:00 AM when the balloons start to inflate – get there early to take advantage of a breathtaking photo opportunity.

Enjoy the sights as you sip coffee and grab breakfast from a local vendor.  Watch in awe as the balloon pilots compete in the balloon rodeo, consisting of fun contests like dipping into Bald Eagle Lake.  Several of the balloons will be available for tethered rides if you feel the need to get airborne!

Head to the mountain at dusk when the glow from the balloons light up on Mt. Werner and the base of the gondola.  Visitors can walk around the tethered balloons or take pictures of this amazingly colorful display.

This event is truly one of a kind and is uniquely Steamboat.  We hope to see you there!
